"Man of Constant Sorrow"

Written in 2006
Draft Recorded in 2006, Touched up in 2012
Music Video made in 2012

The original version of "Man of Constant Sorrow" is an old folk song that is public domain. It was sung by various artists over the years in their own versions, including the most popular version by "The Soggy Bottom Boys" on the movie "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?", and most recently remade into a modern rock version by "Charm City Devils". I wrote and recorded my version back in 2006, trying to stick as closely to the original concept as possible while adding my own twist to the lyrics and style, as well as my own hooks and melodies to the composition.

"Man of Constant Sorrow" was intended to be a 'secret track' at the end of the album now named:
"The Kokiri Project - Dare the Oblivion"
... but is now (quite simply) SONG 13.

The movie clips in the music video come from an obscure 80's horror movie called "Hardware".

The Lyrics:

I am a man of constant sorrow
I've seen trouble all my days
I bid farewell to this here desert
Before it sets my soul ablaze

For these long years I've been in trouble
Only of misery I can tell
Now in this world I'm bound to ramble
Until I find my lost Michelle

Maybe in her ear they whispered I am evil
My face she'll never see no more
But despite the talk and all misfortune
Perhaps we'll still meet upon the shore

If I find my way back to my lover
And I'm no more than ashes in her heart
If through all these years, our love has crumbled
It's to the oceans I'll depart

So in the morning I return to Colorado
With colors true I hope to find
More than just another empty road
And I will pray that now the sun will shine ...
