"Brighter Day"

Written in 2005
Draft Recorded in 2005, Touched up in 2012
Music Video made in 2012

"Brighter Day" was one of the first songs I recorded, which is why is has a canned drum track in the background. I call this song 'really rough', but, aside from that canned drum track, it's pretty damned decent, and one of my favorites. For many years, the song went without the guitar solo in the bridge, which was originally meant to be a saxophone solo, but I was never able to buy a saxophone that sounded good enough for me to record with. After I lost the saxophone I grew up with in a burglary, I realized how nice that old sax really was when I started trying to find a replacement. In 2012, I touched up the balancing, and added the solo. Brighter Day also features an antique Hohner Melodica during the chorus.

The music video was also made as a kind of 'tribute' to an old video game, "Planescape Torment", which is an artistic masterpiece of a game--one that had a profound impact on me, influences my music in some places, and was special for me, and for my friend--the subject of this song.

"Brighter Day" was intended to be SONG 4 of the original album now named:
"The Kokiri Project - Dare the Oblivion"

The Lyrics:

As I drown
In a sea of sorrow
Are you out there, my friend
Wishing we can turn back the time?
A brighter day
If I'd never crossed the line?
But I guess we'll never say
If we can find our way
Ever again...
Ever again...

The regret I carry
It weighs me down
Eats me up inside
And it weighs me down
It weighs me down
I waste away inside

All the years
That we've shared now flash before me
What can change the nature
of a man?
When all you know and love
Is gone ... like grains of sand
And it's lost as the wind blows
Left you in the rows
All alone...
So alone...

The regret I carry
It weighs me down
Eats me up inside
And it weighs me down
It weighs me down
I Waste away inside

Forgive me, my brother
A second chance to make amends
If I can make a brighter day
We'll all be well again

How can I live on with this
Paralysis?
